Governance Paradigm

Eknath Shinde is the man credited with altering the political landscape in Maharashtra. Now, as Chief Minister, he has prioritised effective governance ensuring decisive, fast-paced and public welfare-oriented action as the cornerstone of his administration.

As the leader of the house in the Thane Municipal Corporation and then as a senior Minister, he had proven himself to be a capable administrator with a keen awareness of the needs of the people.

Now the Shinde administration is working to increase the power of the poor and include them in the process of development. Leading Maharashtra as the most industrialised state in India, it is his vision to maintain its leading position in the industrial sector in the country contributing to at least 20% of India’s GDP.

The Maharashtra government has constituted the Maharashtra Institution for Transformation – MITRA. MITRA is chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as the co-chairman.

MITRA would be the state’s think tank for comprehensive data analysis and to make studied decisions on various sectors. Eknath Shinde’s vision is to make the state a $1 trillion economy by 2027 and a $3.5 trillion economy by 2047.

With ‘Janahitaya Sarvada’ or ‘welfare for all, always’ as its philosophical goal, the Shinde administration is moving ahead in the journey of fostering cooperative federalism under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
